1.0 Called Meeting to Order
1.1 President Mike Ong welcomed Derek Chong and called the meeting to order.

2.1 Apexian Edward Mai was absent at the last meting.

3.0 Confirmation Minutes
3.1 The 900th Minutes held on 06/09/11 was then proposed for adoption by Jane Chan
and seconded by Angie Low.

4.0 Directors’ Reports
4.1 Service Director, Apexian Lee said Apex Pg will take up a stall selling chendol on 1st Oct 2011
and all sales proceeds to be donated to The Cancer Society – Relay for Life Project. With this
arrangement, Apex Pg is expected to incur a service project cost of RM600. Members in Apex
shirt to report before 4.00pm and it is expected that they will finish selling by 7pm. Apexian
Edward Mai to help Apexian Lee transport the ingredients and ice machine to venue at Youth
Park.
4.2 Edward has spoken to Mr. C.T.Lim for tree planting- “ Go Green ” project. It was reported
that Mr Lim might charge us the palm trees at minimum cost or even waive the cost if he
wants to help out. Apexian Lee will follow-up. Sr Apexian Victor advised Lee said to get in
touch with Encik Ahmad Hisham of MPPP for inspection and agreement on the site..
4.3 At the “1 Malaysia NGO’s Charity Bowling 2011” held on 17/9/11, Apex Pg took 2 lanes.
Coincidentally, Lifer Tony Ng had earlier committed to Apexian Ho See Keong to sponsor 1 of
the lanes. So Lifer Tony will foot half the total bill of RM400. President Mike congratulated
the organizers for putting Apex, among other NGOs, in the Malaysian Book of Records for
the biggest bowling event.
4.4 Apexian Jane said Lifer Tony has undergone an operation and warded at Gleneagles. A
bouquet of flowers with fruits and chocolates was sent to him. Members split the bill.
4.5 Jane said only 5 members, Victor, Jane, Mike, Jason and Angie, did spring cleaning at the
Club House on 16th Sept from 1pm - 4pm. Victor got a supplier to lay new carpet at a
subsidized price of RM300. Mike said in order to encourage future participation by members,
he will soon introduce a Points System to record on attendance. This system will enable
members accumulate points to show their activeness in Club activities to be eligible to win the
Apexian Of The Year Award or recommended by Apex Pg for State Awards. It will also have a
demerit effect on members who accumulated the least points.
4.6 National President Victor said the Recycling Day will be held in mid December.

5.0 General
5.1 The CIMB Bank said we cannot open an Apex Pg Education Fund A/c unless with an ROS
certificate of its registration. Apexian Lee will check with Public Bank whether they can waive
such a requirement. Mike also reported that we had submitted our new signatories to CIMB
for the existing banking accounts with them.
5.2 Apexian Jason Ang has applied for a year leave but he has to pay the per capita of RM80. All
other members to pay per capita for 2011/2012 asap. President to talk to Gurmeet, Ai Choo
and even NRMs about their pending per capita, which may otherwise affect their membership.

6.0 Other Matters
6.1 Fines Collection for the night: RM25.00

4.0 Directors’ Reports
4.1 Service Director, Apexian Lee will have a stall selling chendol and cakes and the collections to
be donated to The Cancer Society – Relay for Life Project. President to confirm with Apexian
Lee on the date of the project.
4.2 Tree planting- “ Go Green ” project to be carried out before the end of this year. President
Mike Ong said Edward & Lee had been to Cheshire Home to see their palm tree & had even
got references on suppliers of those palm trees.
4.3 Mike Ong and Jason Ang attended the “Partner In Service” medical camp by Apex Club of
KL& Lions Serdang that was held at SJK ( C) Kwang Hwa School, Jalan Raja Uda.
4.4 At the request of Apex Club of PJ, Apex Pg had agreed to participate in 1 Malaysia NGO’s
Charity Bowling 2011 on 17/9/2011. Apex Pg has promised RM400/ towards this project.
Apexians CS Naidu, Dr Mohandas are working with Nat Sec Stephanie Chee to get proxies
to bowl for Apex Pg. Stephanie had given Mike Ong the PJ A/c No to bank in the RM400.
4.5 Mike Ong had delivered a RM50 hamper as lucky draw for SCI charity walk on 11/9/2011.
4.6 Youth Director Amy Yeap reported that she had a meeting with YB Phee Boon Poh. There are
752 hard core poor family, mostly in Seberang Perai Selatan. Apex Pg is targeting a group of
42 such families who earned less than RM500 per month. As financial assistance is necessary,
Amy is getting sponsors to donate rice, milk, sugar and other items on a monthly basis. Apex
Pg will strictly abide by the authorities’ request not to openly publicize the families that we
subsequently adopted under this scheme.
4.7 As the yearly Gurney Drive Beach cleaning project is a successful one by JCI, Apex Club can
work on another community project of a similar nature.
4.8 Social Director Jane Chan said the pot luck dinner at National President Victor’s house
held on 20th Aug 2011 was a great success and members had a good time.
4.9 Jane urged members to be in the Club house at Wisma Penyayang on 16th Sept from 1pm –
4pm for spring cleaning.
4.10 Three other projects namely; Anti Dengue project, Recycling Day and River adoption project
shall be looked into and if Linda Seah is interested, she can play a leading role.

5.0 Other Matters

4.0 National Convention
4.1 At the Kuantan Convention, Apex Pg won the three same awards; Best Service Records
Award, Best Attendance at Nat. Convention & Most Improved Club. The Best Service Award
(which we also applied for but failed to win) has to show an impact on the general public.
4.2 Edward said the Public Speaking was held in an open area which was wrong and he had
advised L/G TM Kumar about it.
4.3 Jane Chan and Mike Ong, as Apex Pg official speakers, did very well despite the open area.
4.4 RM300(as advertisement) towards the cost of printing the Malaysian Apexian will be given
after it has been printed.

5.0 Directors’ Reports
5.1 Service Director, Apexian Lee suggested to have a stall selling chendol and cakes on 11th Sept

5.2 Women Society for Change is having food fair on 27th Aug 2011 from 11am to 6pm at PISA.

5.4 Mike Ong said on 21st Aug 2011, a “Partner In Service” medical camp by Apex Club of KL

5.6 Apexian Jason said SCI will be carrying out a charity walk and members decided to give a
hamper worth RM 50-RM80 for their lucky draw.
5.7 Youth Director Amy Yeap said she is looking into the food distribution project.
5.8 Social Events Director Jane Chan said a social pot luck dinner will be held on 20th Aug 2011
at National President Victor’s house at 7.30 pm. Members to inform her what they will bring.
5.9 Jane urged members to have a social at our Club house at Wisma Penyayang after doing
spring cleaning.
5.10 Blood donation will be held during the Apex Week in end March 2012.
5.11 Two students to be given bursary for their undergraduate studies.

6.0 National IRD
6.1 The fund raising Trishaw/Car Treasure Hunt will be organized after the next Chinese New
Year and Edward is looking for a big sponsor.
6.2 Regarding project to supply computer for the Philippines school. Apex Pg to donate one
computer costing about RM 1,000.
6.3 Extension of the existing Day Care Centre is in the pipeline.
6.4 To consider building toilets at Illoillo City, Phillipines
6.5 For Rob Butcher’s 50th Birthday next year, members interested to inform Edward so that
they can book early and get cheap air fare to Australia.

7.0 National Board
7.1 4 of Pg Apexians are in the National Board for 2011/2012 :- Nat. Pres. Victor, Nat.IRD
Edward Mai, Nat. Treasurer Terrie Loo and Nat. Supply House Coordinator Jane Chan.
7.2 Nat. Pres. Victor cited National Recycling Day as the 1st National Service Project for his term.

Sub: Project Service 1/2011 – Charity Food Fair 1st Oct for Relay For Life 2011

Dear President,

In conjunction with above event which is organized by National Cancer Society of Penang Branch. We, Apexians, Pro Apexians, lifers and NRMs are encouraged to participate in one way or another.

This event will be held from 4.00pm on Saturday 1 Oct 2011 to Sunday 10am the next day. Our involvement will be on Saturday 4pm onwards. Food Fair will begin and our Penang Chendoi Stall plus other food items can be sold the same time till finish……..

My estimation will be 500 bowls (include Ta Pau). And collection around RM1, 500.00
What Apexian needs to do:
  1. We need 3 work-forces at any one time. Ice scrapper, Chendoi preparing & Server.( additional 1 or 2 marketing staff is ideal if available)- Please volunteer
  2. All utensil and equipment will be provided including ice block, ice scrapping m/c, bowls and tables-By Lee Kai Eng
  3. Man power from 3 pm ( to start up the stall) till late the nite ( till sell off completely)- Please volunteer.
  4. Someone to come up with a banner for Apex carrying the appropriate wordings and logo. Size 3’ x 6’ long. President to help
  5. Appeal for other food staff to be sole along with our Chendoi….Please volunteer
  6. Sourcing and supply of Chendoi raw material & utensil- By Lee Kai Eng

In the past, the Food Fair starts on Sunday and ends in late afternoon. This year, they open it on Sat for the stores only. I am trying to discuss with the organizer to arrange on Sunday morning (10.00am to 2 PM like previous years as the crowd is normally heavy on Sunday only. This arrangement will be finalized after discussing with the organizer concerned.
