APEX CLUB OF PENANG

MID-TERM REPORT 2009/2010

Membership & Attendanc

Active Members : 18 ( Include 4 Lifers, 2 Senior Apexians )

NRM : 4

Future Plan : To induct 3 members before the next National Convention.

Dinner & Board Meeting

Club meetings are held at May Garden Restaurant on the 1^st & 3^rd Wednesdays at 7.30 pm. Held 12 dinner meetings of which 5 were board meetings. Average attendance is 75%

Service Record

19-08-09 - Members helped to sell RM1,500 raffles tickets for Mt Miriam Hospital, Penang.

07-11-09 - Treated 49 inmates/staff of Ramakrishna Orphanage to a Deepavali lunch at Kelab Ilham.

Lifer Tony Ng, Victor and Edward provided for the transport. Lifer Andrew Ong made an

on-the-spot donation to the Orphanage.

14-11-09 - Apex Penang adopted 4 inmates at the Cheshire Home Foster Parents’ Day.

16-11-09 - Apex Penang assisted the estate of the Late Lifer Lim Chin Chai to distribute RM3,110/=

to 4 old folks homes.

18-11-09 Apexian Edward Mai made a donation of 35,000 Peso to Apex Leganes Club 45,

Philippines for their clock tower project.

18-09-09 Apex Penang and Apexian Edward Mai jointly donated RM300 to Jireh Home, Kulim.

03-02-10 Apexian Edward Mai and a friend of Apex, Mr Richard Goh, jointly pledged to donate

100,000 Peso to Apex Leganes Club 45 for 3 projects to be undertaken there.

Future Plan

To reach out to at least 5 local old folks’ homes.

International relations

11-08-09 to The Late Lifer Lim Chin Chai had home hosted 4 Apexians from Apex Leganes Club 45.

14-08-09 Apex Penang organized dinners and sight-seeing. Apexian Edward Mai paid for most of

their expenses.

17-09-09 Condolence messages were received from most local Apex Clubs and the National Board.

Similarly, Apexians from as far as Singapore, Philippines, Australia and the Apex Global

Chairman sent their condolences to the family of the Late Lifer Lim Chin Chai. Some Clubs

sent wreaths as well.

Fellowship & Social

07-09-09 Members cleaned up the Club House and thereafter adjourned for lunch/social.

21-09-09 Lunch with members from Damansara, KL and SP Clubs at May Garden Restaurant after

attending the funeral ceremony of the Late Lifer Lim.

26-09-09 Attended the 50^th Anniversary celebrations of YMCA at Moral Uplifting Society.

30-09-09 Had dinner with NRM Rex Trow and Lim Say Cheang and Say May, son and daughter of the

Late Lifer Lim at Penang Chinese Swimming Club.

15-11-09 Attended the wedding dinner of Prospexian Ryan Tang at Gurney Hotel

10-01-10 Attended the wedding luncheon of Apexian Yong Tai Teck Heng’s son held at Sunway Hotel,

Seberang Jaya.

30-01-10 Apexian Edward Mai and his family hosted a sumptuous Chinese New Year 2010

Celebrations dinner for Apexians, Prospexians & spouses at the Sarkies Corner, Hotel E&O.

19-02-10 Chinese New Year Gathering-cum-Potluck celebrations at Apexian Edward Mai’s residence.

Attended by Apexians and their families.

Apex Action & Expansion

05-12-09 Northern Region Social Night organized by Sr Apexian Victor Corbett, the Northern

Region Director, was attended by NP Lily Kaur, NAAED Selva Resan, members & friends

from KL, SP and host Club.

05-12-09 Apexian Danny Tan was inducted a member by NAAED Selva Resan.

Minutes of last meeting was read and adopted by Lifer Tony Ng and seconded by

1.0 Bursary
1.1 Nothing was transpired since Balan was not present. He was supposed to
get further information regarding Sek Jen keb (Tamil) Mayfield.

2.0 Service
2.1 Lifer Andrew brought up matter on Charity Car Wash. Victor advised that the
project will be temporarily shelved until further notice, due to some problems
with car wash owners.

3.0 Percapita
3.1 Members were reminded again to settle their percapita.

4.0 General
4.1 30/01/10 7.00pm, Dinner Invitation from Edward, at Sarkies, E&O Hotel,
Penang. It is only for Pg Apexians and family.
4.2 03/02/10 Dinner meeting at Midlands Restaurant, Penang co-incides with
Edward’s birthday. He magnanimously giving members a treat again.

1.1 Lim Say Mei, daughter of late Lifer Lim, was in Penang and has reimbursed

Apex Club of Penang RM350.00 for the Cheshire Foster Child.

2.0 Bursary Awards

2.1 Angie Low will look into it. Members suggested to give bursary to Sekolah

Jenis Kebangsaan(Tamil)Mayfield.

3.0 Percapita

3.1 Members who have not paid up, please do so by next meeting.

3.2 Request Mike Ong to email NRM regarding percapita.

4.0 Mid-Term Meeting

4.1 Victor Corbett, Balan Menon, Jason Ang and Mike Ong confirmed attending

the meeting.

5.0 Treasurer Report

5.1 A cheque of RM300.00 was issued to Jireh Home,Kulim. President presented

cheque to them on 24/12/09 .

6.0 General

6.1 Next meeting 20/01/10 will be held on the Mainland,at Kim Hee Restaurant.

6.2 Meeting on 03/02/10 will be held at Midlands Restaurant, Penang and will be

Edward’s treat.

6.3 Following meeting 17/02/10 is cancelled as it coincides with CNY celebrations.
