MINUTES OF THE 884th MEETING OF APEX CLUB OF PENANG
HELD ON 15/12/10, 8PM AT JADE PALACE RESTAURANT, PENANG
Attendance: Pres Jason Ang, Sr Apexian Victor Corbett, Terrie Loo, Lifer Tony
Ng, Mike Ong, Edward Mai, Jane Chan, Anthony Jayakumar, Leeza

1.0 Confirmation of Minutes
1.1 The 883rd Minutes held on 01/12/10 was proposed for adoption by Victor
Corbett and seconded by Edward Mai. President and members welcomed
Hirano-san to meeting.
2.0 Coming Mid-Term to be hosted by Apex Pg / 40th Anniversary landmark.
2.1 Mike Ong reported that Registration Form had been emailed to most local and
foreign Apexians on 9/12/2010. The deadline to RSVP is 15/2/2011.
2.2 Edward presented his dinner table sales forecast for the 45 tables for Grand
Dinner on 5/3/2011. He requested and members agreed to each take at least a
table. Victor Corbett pledged to take up 7 additional tables. There was also an
agreement to the proposed seating arrangement of the VIP table, dinner
programme and job allocation to contact past presidents of Apex Penang.
2.3 Edward also distributed letters to solicit placing of advertisement spaces in
souvenir programme. Members to make necessary photocopies from the
original given.
2.4 Victor will follow up with the relevant authorities for a site at the Speakers’
Corner, The Esplanade, for our 40th Anniversary landmark.
2.5 Terrie will check with Apexian Kate Huth on the 2 Indonesian Apexians, their
passport numbers for air ticket bookings and also the expected ticket cost.
2.6 Edward will take care of the 7 Apexians from The Philippines.
3.0 Apex Pg Education Fund
3.1 Victor will check on status of our appeal for RM4K donations.
3.2 Each member was given 10 Climbathon Cards. 300 cards were printed f.o.c by
Ryan Tang. Terrie assisted in controlling the cards distribution and the deadline to return cards and collections to her is after the CNY 2011. Penalty for each card that is lost is RM25.00. The Climbathon date is 13/2/2011 – 14/2/2011. Ryan will quote the cost of printing the T-shirts , banners and Apex Flag.
3.3 The Charity Treasure Hunt, scheduled for 17 April 2011 might be postponed to a
more suitable date.. A mini-hunt on trishaw within The Heritage Trail will be included. The Hunt is targeted to raise RM50,000, as earlier proposed by Prospexian Lee.
3.4 Mike Ong informed that once the Organizing Chair-person and the Working Committee is finalised, appeal letters for sponsorship and prizes will be prepared.
3.5 President Jason asked to differ to next DM to discuss on the draft copy of Education Fund ‘contract’
3.6 Edward said that since most points was successfully covered, he will decide on the need to hold the 3rd Working Committee Meeting, separately on 28/12/2011.
4.0 Other Directors’ Reports
4.1 There is again no response from Apex Pg Youth to Philippines Conventions, next
May.
4.2 Edward informed that the 2 students under the “Apex Youth Exchange
Program- Perth 2 Singapore”, i.e. Stephanie Meredith and Hannah Rogers were
Unable to attend dinner meeting, as planned. They would be leaving for S’pore
By Jetstar at 5.30pm the next day.
4.3 Mike Ong informed that Apexian CS Naidu and his 8 friends from India come to
Penang from 15/1/2011 to 17/1/2011. Angie Low to assist them rent a service
apartment in Batu Ferringhi.
5.0 Other Matters
5.1 Fines Collection for the night: RM 46.00
5.2 Meeting was then adjourned at 9.45pm, proposed by Victor & seconded by
