MINUTES OF THE 912^TH MEETING OF APEX CLUB OF PENANG

HELD ON 07/03/12 , 8PM AT MAY GARDEN RESTAURANT, PENANG

Attendance: Mike Ong, Jane Chan, , Victor Corbett, , Edward Mai, Lee Kai Eng

1. Called Meeting to Order

1.1 Meeting called to order at 8pm. Chairman, Angie Low and Fines-master, Victor

1.2 Since there was a guest present, members introduced themselves.

2. Confirmation of minutes

2.1 Minutes of the 911^th was confirmed by Edward Mai and seconded by Jason Ang.

3. Amendments

3.1 There were no amendments.

4 Service Report

4.1 Apexian Lee informed that Esther Kaur will be paid RM 300 for 3 months first, she

has 2 other sisters who are schooling and their single mother is giving tuition and

supporting them.

4.2 Another three cases, Rosalind, Amy and Rebecca had approached Apexian Lee. He

has personally donated RM 400 as tuition fees for Amy’s daughters Chris & Christina.

4.3 Rosalind’s husband has stroke and no income, but recently she has started a stall to

sell foodstuffs. Her son is waiting for his STPM results and staying at home. Apexian

Edward suggested that the son look for a temporary job to support the family.

4.4 Rebecca Manogaran who is studying at Alliance University has also approached for

help but members felt it is a private university which is expensive and the club cannot

afford to assist her.

4.5 Food fair at Mount Mariam , the club to put up the Chendol stall on the 15 April 2012.

5.0 Apex Penang Education Fund

5.1 Apexian Edward said RM 5,000 was given to Man Yee so that she is able to sit for her

Examination. She had filled up the bursary form which Edward will forward to the

National Bursary Director. Only RM 1,000 was taken from the fund while the other

donors of RM1,000 each are; Mr. K.C.Lau, Mr. Richard Goh, Apexians Edward and Lee.

5.2 Apex Week blood donation at Tesco, Pres. Mike to talk to Tesco E-gate and Lee to the

Penang Hospital. Tentatively to be held on 25 March 2012. Victor suggested to give a

dinner for St. Joseph inmates at May Garden Restaurant and entertain the St.

Nicholas inmates with simple games.

6.0 General

6.1 Apexian Lee said the eco tourism to Taiping Matang will be planned in April since

March is a busy month with things planned for Apex Week.

6.2 President Mike said Apexian Gurmit Singh wants to change his membership to Bandar

Syed Putra. According to procedure, Gurmeet has to pay his 2011/2012 per capita to

Penang Apex Club and the club will inform Apex BSP of Gurmeet’s intention.

7.0 Fines

Fines collected is RM18.00

1.1 Meeting called to order at 8pm. Chairman, Edward Mai and Fines-master, Jane.

2.1 Minutes of the 910^th was confirmed by Tony Ng and seconded by Jason Ang.

3. Amendments

3.1 The amendment was : RM 3.00 for developing of films.

4 Service Report

4.1 Jason said he will email to Edward Mai the photograph that he took.

4.2 Esther Kaur does not need to fill the bursary forms. RM 300 to be paid for 4-6

months, SD Lee to inform Esther.

4.3 Apexian Angie Low said that 28 Apex T shirts are with her. Lifer Seah paid for the

T shirt but has not collected it, so only 27 belonged to the Club.

4.4 Mid Term Meeting 17/18^th Feb 2012

Lifer Tony Ng will be leaving for Ipoh in the morning because he has to pick the

Singaporeans at 11.30 am. Victor will pick Terrie , Jane and Mike. Jason and Balan

will leave at 1.30pm with Edward.

4.5 Apexian Victor said he visited Ipoh Kinta Club with Lifer Tony, Jane and Mike and

found their preparatory work for the Mid-Term Meeting to be very good.

5.0 Apex Pg education Fund

5.1 Edward asked for RM 30,000 from the General Fund to be transferred to Apex Pg

Education Fund as soon as possible. Angie to look into it.

5.2 As for the Bursary Award to Ms Mun Yee, Edward Mai to work on it and the Bursary

Form filled up.

6.0 General

6.1 Fines collected is RM15.00

I use D for the Day and N for the Night...” For old farts like you.... Probably a matter of time now ..... The older I get, the better I was. Several days ago as I left the club, I desperately gave myself a personal TSA pat down. I was looking for my car keys. They were not in my pockets. A quick search in the club revealed nothing. Suddenly I realized, I must have left them in the car. Frantically, I headed for the parking lot. My wife has scolded me many times for leaving the keys in the ignition. My theory is the ignition is the best place not to lose them. Her theory is that the car will be stolen. As I burst through the doors of the club, I came to a terrifying conclusion. Her theory was right. The parking lot was empty. I immediately called the police. I gave them my location, confessed that I had left my keys in the car, and that it had been stolen. Then I made the most difficult call of all, "Honey," I stammered. I always call her "honey" in times like these. "I left my keys in the car, and it has been stolen." There was a period of silence. I thought the call had been dropped, but then I heard her voice. "Idiot", she barked, "I dropped you off!" Yep, it's getting like that. The golden years...
